Using Roles (Security set up)

Hi there,

I found Roles info on
A. Users profile
B. dictionnary (table / column level)

How would it work ?

setting value in Dictionnary , is it a toggle (0 or 1) ?
the 2 points (A, B) above are the only one to use ?

What about the following case ?

Column1 A=0, B=0 (in Dictionnary)
Column2 A=0, B=1 (in Dictionnary)

User 1 A flagged , all other not (in profile)
User 2 A & B flagged , all other not (in profile)

Should then user 1 not see column 2 in reports ?
