v.6.4.12 - how to drill down in cross tab

Hi there,

I have a base table 'invoices' with columns year, month, fact.date,BusinessUnit, XXXX, ProdNr, ..., Qty, weight, amount
I create one report as
group on BusinessUnit, XXX,ProdNr
total on Qty, weight, amount

column hdrs are thus the value names

with this report : drill down is OK along row side BusinessUnit, XXX,ProdNr

I create a second report as
group on Year (in column) , BusinessUnit, XXX,ProdNr
total on Qty, weight, amount

column hdrs are thus Year, value names

with this report : drill down is ***NOT*** OK along row side

Am I missing something ?

Hi JLD,

On the cross-tab reports you should be able to drill to underlying details from the row totals, column totals, total report total as well as all individual cross-totals and cells in the pivot. What do you mean with NOT ok along row side?

OK, following your remark ... indeed your can drill-down from the 'cell' in the cross-tab.
Actually, I was trying to navigate in the cross-tab as I did in my previous report (not cross-tab) wherein you can navigate from the value in the row.

By applying this to the cross-tab,
I would have expected to see the next dimension down along the row side in a cross-tab again (same dimension kept in column)
One can (just tested) add - via the List tab in Design - the same dimension accross associated to the next dimension down in row ... but you can not navigate from the row dimension value, well from the cell ... and in this case, you get only the next dimension down value associated to the column dimension value (cell) and the totals ...

with a view to increase the consistency in the GUI and therefore ease the learning curve of a user/developer ... using DynamicAI becomes then more INTUITIVE instead of specifically technical (or trial and errors approach), one might consider:
or remove navigation from row dimension value on top level report
or enable navigation from row dimension value on cross-tab report ....

This is the feedback from the field ... a lambda user.

Hi JL

I'm still not 100% sure I understand your request. You can add dimensions (also repeat) at any level from ad-hoc or design - as well as you can use drop-down actions and drag-drop gestures.

The row-group value itself (maybe what you refer to as row level drill-down) are either user for drill-down or to filter AI dashboards. To be consistent always drill on the row level total for drill-down.
