What are (System) styles?

Postby Brienne Casanave » Tue Jun 21, 2011 9:50 pm

I am customizing some of the basic elements in our styles, and am looking for some clarification regarding how the styles are grouped at the top level.

What are the primary differences between "List Styles" and "List Styles (System)", and what are the primary differences between "Form Styles" and "Form Styles (System)"? Do changes in non-System styles impact the System styles?

Many thanks!

System styles are static and maintained and distributed with new versions of Dynamic AI.
The System styles can be used as basis for own styles (save as).
The same logic applies for list and form styles.
Only one list style is applied to a report / package and only one form style is applied to a form.
I.e. you build your own custom style and can copy from or disregard system styles completely.

Thanks, Carsten!

I have successfully created a new List Style without issue. When I moved on, however, to creating a new Form Style I'm having some problems. None of the customization that I'm applying are saving. I have tried saving an existing style under a new name and then customizing it, and I have tried creating a completely new style. I have the same result with both approaches. The colors and text formatting that I apply do not save, and when I reopen the style it is back its original state.

I have followed the directions provided in the help. Is this a known issue? Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks for any insight you may have into the issue!

Hi Brienne,

We'll look into it and see whether we can reproduce / eventually fix it!

I'll get back to you!

Best regards

Hi Brienne,

Just tested creating a new Form style - and it seems to work.

I use IE when working with FORM layouts.... might be a browser incompatibility issue!

Could that be the reason?

Best regards,
Carsten
